Anton (Tony) H. Zutter, of Cedarwood Road, North Charlestown, NH died on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 in Shakopee, MN while he and his immediate family were all out visiting.

Tony leaves his wife of nearly 49 years, Linda M. Zutter of North Charlestown, NH. Daughter Laura Zutter (spouse John West) of Grantham, NH; son Brian Zutter (spouse Ali) of Windham, ME; son Bruce Zutter (spouse Patti) of Prior Lake, MN. Brothers Walter Zutter (spouse Paula) of Stafford Springs, CT; and Martin Zutter (spouse Susan) of Vernon, CT; and sister in-law Margrit Zutter of Uetendorf, Switzerland. Grandchildren Amanda Lee of Grantham, NH; Zachary Lee of Brookline, NH; Matthew Zutter of US Marine Corps, Camp Lejeune, NC; Mackenzie Zutter of Prior Lake, MN; and Jack Zutter of Prior Lake, MN. He also leaves multiple nieces, nephews, and cousins in the United States and Switzerland.

Tony was predeceased by his parents, Alfred Zutter and Frieda Zutter, of Ellington, CT and his second oldest brother, Hans Alfred Zutter, of Uetendorf, Switzerland.

Tony was born in Uttigen, Switzerland and was fully educated there. After finishing school, at the age of 16, he traveled to France by train with his parents and his oldest and younger brother, then boarded a ship (LaLiberte) to New York Harbor (Ellis Island had been closed for 2 years). They were initially supposed to settle in Canada, but instead settled in Ellington, CT.

After working for the Luginbuhl Farm in Ellington, CT, he joined the US Army during the Korean Conflict (1958-1962) and was stationed in Korea and multiple sites in the United States, including Alaska. When he returned to civilian life, he obtained employment at Mal Tool & Engineering (currently known as GKN) in South Windsor, CT and North Charlestown, NH and stayed with the company for nearly 40 years. After retiring from there, he worked for Design Standards in Charlestown, NH for five years.

Tony enjoyed soccer (playing, refereeing, and coaching), broomball (playing and refereeing), volleyball, softball (playing and umpiring), target practice at the shooting range, snowmobiling, hunting, was an avid lover of nature, being outdoors, and traveling, and had great knowledge of airplanes and trains.

Tony was a Charlestown Cemetery Trustee and coached the Ellington Boys’ traveling soccer team that played in Switzerland.

Tony belonged to multiple clubs including The Swiss American Club of New Hampshire, Ty Rods Auto Club, Rockville, CT; Old Fort #4 Rod, Gun, and Snowmobile Club, Charlestown, NH; the American Legion, Claremont, NH; and the VFW, Charlestown, NH.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, June 22^nd from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8PM at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street, Claremont. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 23rd, at 10:30 in the morning in the Stringer Funeral Home with Patricia Wells Pastor of the North Charlestown United Methodist Church, officiating.  Burial will follow in Hope Hill Cemetery in North Charlestown, with military honors.

A reception will be held at the Claremont Senior Center off Maple Ave in Claremont, NH.
